“What do you know about skincare?” asked a close friend when I told him I was going to start a skincare brand. “You have no background in beauty or formulations when most skincare founders have a prior career within the industry.”
A fair point but I’d always been taught that if you had an idea and a desire to experiment then it’s worth trying rather than walking away. After 10 years of learnings, I do feel that our skincare products are perfectly suited to help people boost their skin health. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a difficult journey - a lot of mistaken sales strategies and late nights but if it was as simple as sitting in a 5 day workshop with your team, defining a purpose and then articulating it, the world would have many, many more brands than it has now.

Growing up, I remember hearing from the Elder women in my family about the curative powers of all these amazing, natural ingredients from the Himalayas and South Asia - especially the water. The vitality and purity of this region always stuck in my head.
So, when it came to creating Herbal Essentials many years later, I knew I wanted to combine age-old, tried and tested Ayurvedic ingredients with clinically proven Himalayan Active Water to provide high-performance skincare that restores balance and helps your skin heal itself.
I also recognised from living abroad for most of my life that tried and tested ayurvedic ingredients needed to be modernised in order to address the environmental stressors that we experience in modern day lives. Working with expert french formulators to create that blend between East and West to create natural, effective and affordable skincare has been my passion - and mission - for the last decade and I am immensely proud of how that idea has evolved over the years.
The secret to good skincare isn’t so much jamming every single trending ingredient into a product, but using minimal, naturally-derived active ingredients that actually work and won’t irritate your skin to achieve optimal skin well-being.
In our case, at Herbal Essentials, our purpose is very simple. We want to produce really good skincare products that promote everyday skin health without costing a fortune. My journey since I broke my hip on July 26, has been awful, so I find joy in the small things. This afternoon I decided to pamper… I stayed by washing started by washing my face, unfortunately I was not able to use a @herbal_essentials product for this as I ran out of their foaming face wash, but I followed it up by using their refreshing toner.
I then took rescue revive eye mask and placed on each lower lid for 10 minutes before wearing their rescue revive face mask.
Today has seen me cry more than I care to admit, but when I have the option to make myself feel better, I’ll happily should about what makes that happen.

I absolutely adore their products, and cannot recommend them highly enough to others. My skin has had a complete overhaul since I began using them in early 2021.
So it’s been a few weeks since I started using @herbal_essentials. Before I started I used to suffer so badly with hormonal acne and oily skin. I had been to dermatologists previously, but they couldn’t find anything to help. I mentioned in a previous post that I found this product through a friend on Facebook, I’m so glad I tried it. I was convinced that using harsh washes and scrubs was the way forward. But obviously that wasn’t the case. It’s actually worked! My skin has almost cleared up completely! I still get the odd break out but nothing as angry as before. I’ve even stopped wearing make up every day as my skin is clear enough to where I’m confident enough without it.
